The decision to take the leap

So to get things going here is a link to comic strip which is somewhat theme relevant

For as long as people have asked me (this includes me asking me) what I want to do with my life, I have had relatively no clue. I have wanted to do (and still want to do) everything from electronics engineering to professional writing. I have now been out of school for almost 3 years now, accomplishing naught but wasting time and pursuing random goals. As fun as it has been at times I am bored of it, I want to find some direction and get on with my life. Sadly to do this I need to figure out I want to do, so I have been having a really hard think. Well it would probably come as no surprise to you that I have decided I am going to give photography a crack :) I am currently pretty interested in Chisholm's Certificate IV in Photoimaging as even though they claim it's "full-time" study, it's only 3 days a week so I can still have a part-time job and do the course. Another main reason (probably even more important than the first point) is if after the year is up, I have my certification and I decide pursuing photography as a career isn't the path for me, I am still only going to be 22 and could easily fall back to something else like web programming (which is my contingency plan at the moment).

So anyhow... Thanks to the fact I have decided to pursue photography (and the fact I am compulsive spender) I have been buying up camera gear left, right and center. So far my kit is comprimised of the following:
- Canon EOS 450D
- Canon Speedlite 430EX II Flash
- 18-55mm EF-S f/3.5-5.6 IS lens
- 55-250mm EF-S f/4-5.6 IS lens
- 10-22mm EF-S f/3.5-4.5 USM lens
- 28mm EF f/1.8 USM lens

Obviously I have a tripod, bag for my camera and lenses, a couple of UV and polarised filters, a 16gig SD high speed memory card (16 gig may sound like a lot but I took about 90 photos last night and they came to over a gig :S) and some other random accessories but yeah, I am starting to get a decent kit going. On my to buy list is a film SLR (I am currently bidding for an EOS 300X on e-bay as you can't buy film SLRs in store anymore) and I also want to replace my 18-55mm and 55-250mm lenses (as they are crap and serve only as a taste to what real lenses can do).

So if anyone wants a photographer for anything, I need practise and would be glad to at least discuss some ideas (I can't say I am guaranteed to agree as I am still very unconfident, a lil snap shy and also obviously may not see your idea as feasably possible :P )

Well thanks for reading and as a lil bonus here is some previously unreleased photo experiments I did of Mitch's car

P.S As a side note the fact that when dA resizes my images to make them smaller, how it changes the transparent areas to black is really starting to shit me up the wall!
